Communications Dept. records, 1944-1983.

The collection consists of records of the Communications Dept. of the UNCF from 1944-1983. The general files (1944-1965) primarily contain correspondence documenting the Dept's responsibilities including administrative duties, fundraising campaigns, media, special events and projects, and the preparation of publications. The campaign brochures subseries (1944-1983) consists of printed materials that UNCF developed as part of its fund raising campaigns and demonstrate UNCF's growth and expanded publicity efforts. The serial publications subseries (1944-1983) contains materials distributed to UNCF donors and volunteers and pertain to annual campaigns as well as special events or fundraisers. The Advertising Council materials (1963-1982) document key events in UNCF's history including information on convocations, special events, and symposia. The newspaper and magazine clippings (1938-1983), which contain many items not documented by news releases, deal with national and local topics relating to UNCF's activities.
